Im sure they are. After all the group who came up with this figure are the same group who projected they could borrow and pay off all this money. When it comes to projections, they are ace. Oh, good, for a moment I thought we were in trouble - as Paul Newman said just before he and Robert Redford went out to face a hail of bullets at the end of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. |

Half way through this report the future seems to suck for older players The Kookaburra Man Sugar (stat) of the year award 2009 From DD Truest Bear of the year award 2010 |

RE: The future ( it sucks)
Older players who have no future in the grand ECB scheme of things will be deemed surplus to requirements the more the ECB is the one central pot for income.
Players could actually revolt or take industrial action to protect their interests. There must be some leadership from within the playing side of the game that is based on protecting the interests of county players and county spectators from the ravages and ill effects of rampant corporate commercialism. That leadership is sadly lacking within the ECB and county exec's these days and this has put the long term health of the county game at risk. The county spectators (who have already been hurt by all the stupid changes we have seen in the game over the last 10 years) have patently never mattered to the authorities, never been listened to and therefore lack a voice. The county players are going to feel the pinch now. It is time for the players to make a stand to protect the county game I feel. Or are they as powerless as us spectators? |

They didnt strike and the incentives came in so not a good sign. Boot out older players and surely younger players - who all get old - will wonder if cricket is the game for them? The Kookaburra Man Sugar (stat) of the year award 2009 From DD Truest Bear of the year award 2010 |

Where is all this SKY money?
BTW I have heard rumours there will possibly be no Minor Counties Championship from next season. |
