RE: Coaching Batting
Amiss - (you have people like Lara / Richards etc) - then you have people like Amiss - high high class - if he played now he`d have played 100 tests and 100 ODI`s - and he`d have averaged 50+ - studious, hungry, and always trying to get better - t`was like batting with a security blanket

RE: Coaching Batting
Much underrated player at international level was Dennis. Highest ODI average of any England batsmen but I bet if you had a best England one day player poll he wouldnt get a vote. Test average of 46 - just one less than the much higher rated Boycott - wasnt too shabby either.

RE: Coaching Batting
Yes he did come back from that Aussie tour was it 74/75 shellshocked after facing Lillee and Thompson - without helmets in those days. A tour that I dont think Mr Boycott went on. He was very successful against the windies though. I agree with Paul against modern day bowlers with protection and the wickets they play on he would easily average over 50 in test cricket. Tell me I'm stupid... but Trott reminds me a little bit of him.
