Keith Barker injured - Sidebottom to replace him?  Based on the Sussex game, should Chris Wright make way for Henry Brookes?

Yes and YES !  I hope Pop sorts Wrighty out, he has looked a shadow of his former self - and not just last week.

Olly Stone is out of the squad, injured his hamstring. Boyd has been added to the squad. Let's hope Olly makes a fast recovery.

Early wicket! Sidebottom removes Duckett...that's a good start after being put in the field!

What are people's thoughts on Lamb for Hose?

Good to see Brookes get a wicket!

I assume Lamb gives them an extra bowling option. Otherwise dropping Hose after one match is brutal.

Perhaps it is more about rotating the youngsters giving them all an opportunity as well as making sure they are not over used

I think that is the likeliest explanation, I think the other members of the top six are inked in for the season. I have to say my first thoughts on last week’s selection was it was unlucky on Lamb given what he was exposed to in his debut season and how he responded...

Very pleased that Matt Lamb is being given another chance, especially as he's a locally born and developed player. he did well in difficult circumstances last season, and has the ability to become a key member of the side, given a fair chance.

Also good to see Henry Brookes given a chance to play.

Young players will never develop if they aren't given a fair chance to play at first team level.

Players should not be picked for the first XIcos they're young, they need to actually be good enough - you were proved wrong with Coleman and Webb, watch the first team now and again and even you will appreciate the enormous gap between first and secondXIcricket

You are both right - you give the youngsters the opportunity but if they fail to make the leap you quickly move on. It is a big gap betwen 2nd and 1st team level.

I watch more cricket, at all levels, than many people realize, I'm always sober when watching. Also having umpired several players now with first class counties, other first class teams & former Internationals, I've had a much closer view of their ability than from the bar.

Hopefully I'm not speaking too soon, but things seem to be going pretty well today. Pleased to see Hain making championship runs on a slow outfield. Also pleased that Matt Lamb hung around and scored some, and Tim Ambrose is continuing his bit of good form.

Well done Tim Ambrose. Like a vintage wine or cheese he gets better with age.

At a lovely sunny Northants. Henry Brookes batted really well - totally composed. Much to shout about today as a Bears fan.

Yes Stingray... Feels like we've gone from winter to summer with no spring. Let's hope we get a couple of wickets by cop.

Another of the triumvirate ie Derbyshire having much the better of things against the division's favourites for promotion, Leicestershire also holding their own
