No surprise - we're unchanged.  Leicester won the toss and chose to bat.  They're 6 for 1 after 3 overs - Barker got the wicket.

Why did Trott only bowl 2 balls - hope it's not something serious

Meanwhile Lancashire chasing 206are 68-4Jo Gardner on a hat trick, sounds more exciting than the game you lot are concerned about

Indeed... Its that time of the year when a couple of the triumverate start to jockey for position in the race to the bottom whilst the cream rises... So well done to Derby's for their efforts.

Looks like another win for a Bears side who look much happier than last season.

Mark Cosgrove. How does he get away with it, how do Leicestershire get away with it!

Does he ever field when Leicestershire bat first? I think the most he’s managed against us is an over or two over the last 3 or 4 games. Today he was feigning a sore back from half way through his innings, and then we never see him in the field.

I know this happened against several other counties last season. Seriously, how do they get away with it?

My report here:
https://deepextracover.com/2018/06/trott...stershire/
I was tempted to have a go at Cosgrove but I had given Leicestershire a pretty rough ride anyway so left the portly Aussie to nurse his bad back.
How Ateeq fails to get into that side is a mystery.

Terry, See my post earlier in the topic. How does Cosgrove get away with it? Is it condoned by the coaching staff? How could such a defensive approach to the second half of the game have any chance of success? I thought Mr Nixon was meant to be a genius?

I don't know the answer - other than that bad backs are hard to disprove.
If Paul Nixon thinks that there are eleven players better than Ateeq Javid, he definitely isn't a genius.  Time will tell but I think he may be someone who talks a good act but doesn't deliver.  Six players in the team born in the Southern Hemisphere and none born in Leicestershire suggests that something is wrong, though admittedly that may be partly a situation that Nixon inherited.

I actually asked Paul Nixon at a Cricket Society meeting this winter if it was a strategy to replace Cosgrove in the field with youngsters as he seems to be injured each time it comes to fielding. Not surprisingly he didn’t really answer my question. It is a shocker.
