No squad news yet, but Brian Halford has said that we'll have Woakesy back (and probably play Sidebottom) and Barker & Brookes are out (one on Paternity leave and the other with a back injury - I'll let you guess which is which !).

Assuming I've guessed correctly, I hope that Henry Brookes isn't going to have the kinds of back problems that so many young fast bowlers have.
I am going on Monday and hoping for a good day's cricket.

Middlesex won the toss and decided to bat. Bad choice ? They're 66 for 5 - two wickets for Wright & OHD and one for Sidebottom ! Of course, they'll recover - and probably get over 300 !?

I looked for the scores for the first time a minute ago and thought "there's another score over 200 against us" then realised it's not a T20 game!!!

Agree in the positive sentiment. It’s good we bowled them out, not poor that we failed to knock them over as quick as we could have. I’ve seen both sides bat, although not Middlesex’s collapse, and it looks like quite a flat pitch. Might have been that our seamers got the most out of conditions, it’s a touch muggy here.

I retract that. Well, partially. Middlesex bowlers have found the right length and seem much more dangerous now. I’m having to sit side on so can’t see if it’s moving a lot or not with the new ball, but seeing how much Bell and Sibly were on skates before being dismissed, I’m guessing it is.

Not quite over 300 - but they still managed 236. How / why do we ALWAYS seem to let the opposition off the hook, when they're struggling and losing early wickets?!

Has anyone on here used their Warwickshire membership to go in the pavilion at Lord's before? I'm going to go tomorrow and was wondering if anyone has any advice of things to do or not do in the pavilion i.e. etiquette etc. I know about the dress code! I'm guessing yelling "You Bears" is discouraged!!

And you should never break wind in front of an MCC member. Always let him do it first.

I wonder if the pitch started damp like at Tunbridge Wells given the hot weather forcast for this match. Have Middlesex missed a trick in not having a spinners pitch with us loaning out Poysden? Wouldn't it be nice for a change to see a pitch for spinners, and not seamers. BOO Midlesex stop being so boring, nice hot weather get the spinners into the game. See Woakes didn't do his England come back hopes any good. Looking forward to being there tomorrow.

I’ve been in the pavilion before, though never for a Warwickshire game until tomorrow. See you there!
To be honest, the etiquette point is over done. It’s fairly relaxed it’s just the dress code is a bit draconian, and, to Terry’s point, a cravat is actually acceptable as an alternative to a tie. I just asked a lot of questions last time using long words and everyone was polite and informative back. As an example, the long room bar doesn’t let you take drinks outside. The solution I can’t actually remember, but it was politely put by a young bar tend. The stewards are possibly a bit stuffy but not overbearing and always polite, albeit in a passive aggressive way.
Looking forward to seeing some runs from Ambrose, Woakes from there tomorrow.
