Contract extensions

Four players have had their contracts extended:

The Bears obviously think highly of Thomson who seems to have leapt over the now departed Singh and Poysden as the second string spin bowler after Jeetan - possibly helped by the fact that he can bat as well as bowl.

Yes, I agree AT is now second choice spinner - and his batting has moved him above Sunny and Josh.  However, I still think there's a need for a third 'first team squad spinner'.  Alex is another Off Spinner - Sunny and Josh gave us different varieties of spin.  I'd like us to look at bringing in a Left Arm or Leg Spinner.  We did check Leg Spinner, Matt McKiernan out in the Seconds at the end of the Summer.  He did OK for us and has turned out for Derby Firsts in the T20.  For us and their Seconds, he seems a good number 7 or 8 batter, so could do a job.  I see he's still listed on BBC Cricket as being in the Derby squad - but that might have changed, given his runout for our Seconds in September.

I believe Thomson has yet to take a wicket in Championship cricket. Should Jeets get injured (or called up by NZ) we will be as short of a Plan B as Theresa May.
