Cox is called James and comes from Staffordshire. Bowls like a right-arm Jack Shantry.

Matt Lamb in the runs again today (125), he MUST come in to the First team in place of Yates or Hose (preferably).  Runs also for Chapman-Lilley (69), Mellor (27 - after his 91 yesterday) and Harry Johnson (37 NO).  We declared on 320 for 7.  Miles took an early wicket in their reply.

Northants finished on 150 for 9 (a third wicket for Jamie Cox).  We didn't enforce the follow on - presumably to get some extra batting practice (hopefully for Lamb, to aid his 'inevitable' 1st team call up !).

Lamb will get some more batting practice earlier than expected - we're already 2 down (for 23 runs - Hammond & Chapman-Lilley are out), so Pollock and him are in now.

We finished our Second innings on 207 for 8 dec.  Lamb, one of two big scorers (again), got 52; Thomson, got 70 NO.  So we set Northants a target of 378, in a days play - easy peasy for us ?!  NO - they finished on 380 for 1 (in 81 overs) !

The only 'bowler' to get a wicket was Lamb (7 overs, 1 for 48) !  He'll be playing for the First Team against Surrey next week, as an All Rounder ?!

Perhaps he's on holiday here for a couple of weeks.  Two days visiting the Portland Road area of Brum (and taking in the relaxing ambience of our Public Open Spaces) - and the rest of the time, living it up large and enjoying himself !
